Healthwatch Cambridgeshire and Peterborough announces new CEO

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Julian Stanley as CEO of Healthwatch Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Julian will succeed Sandie Smith, who is set to retire in March 2023 after ten years in the role.

Julian will be taking over the reins from Sandie, initially as CEO-designate on 15 March 2023, to allow a two-week transition period before Sandie formally retires on 31 March 2023.

Julian is a very experienced voluntary sector CEO and brings a wealth of knowledge of both the sector and our local communities.

During his career to date, Julian has worked in the civil service, the theatre, local government and has led a number of national and regional charities, social enterprises and commercial trading companies delivering services in the health, employment, economic regeneration, criminal justice, skills training, youth, performing arts, community and leisure sectors.

He has substantial experience of developing and delivering free digital and face to face mental health and well-being services which was a major focus of his work as the founding CEO of the award-winning charity Education Support. More recently he led Bounce Back Foundation - now part of the social welfare charity Change, Grow, Live, and for a number of years was CEO of The Cresset in Peterborough.  

A qualified and accredited business and leadership Coach, Julian founded Clear Thinking Consultancy in 2019 and is currently Chair of Trumpington Community College in Cambridge.

Julian is an experienced broadcaster and public speaker, who has appeared on many national and regional TV and radio programmes. He often contributes to podcasts such as “The Naked Scientists” and has published regular columns and blogs on the topic of health and wellbeing for a variety of print media outlets.
