The coronavirus pandemic has brought huge challenges for those grieving – being unable to say goodbye or comfort loved ones in the final hours or pay their respects at a funeral because of the limit on people attending.
Anne has been a volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Care in Huntingdonshire for 12 years, offering support, advice and information to children, young people and adults when someone dies.
“Talking to people is critical,” she says. “Keeping it to yourself isn’t helpful – you end up on a hamster wheel going round and round and not being able to process it.
Anne's top advice
- Don’t judge yourself by other people’s standards.
- Everybody responds and grieves differently.
- Being kind to yourself is the most important thing.
- Give yourself space.
